Join us this holiday season as we work together to help community families in need through a 'reverse advent' collection for Blessings in a Backpack.
Many of us have seen (or even use) a traditional Advent calendar. In it, we count down the days until Christmas by opening a window on a paper calendar each day, to reveal a new surprise – to be discovered each day.
This year, Harmony Springs Church invites you to participate in a Reverse Advent Calendar. Rather than opening a window to take something (like a piece of candy) each day, a Reverse Advent Calendar encourages giving. Our calendar lists health and hygiene items that blessings in a backpack distributes to children and families in need of a little help in our community. Each day of Advent, we invite you to read some Scripture, perhaps say a prayer, and to donate the item indicated on the calendar by placing it in a special 'Reverse Advent Calendar' bag which can be picked up on Sundays at Harmony Springs Church. During the holiday season , fill up the bag, and bring it to Harmony Springs on either the Sunday before Christmas (Dec. 22) or during our Christmas Eve-Eve service on Monday, Dec. 23 at 6:30 pm. We will deliver them to the Blessings in a Backpack Program.
